Zelensky demands European troops, warns Russia not to prepare for dialogue | Real Time Headlines

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for the creation of European troops to promote the defense of the mainland as he warned Russia that “is not ready for dialogue” to promote possible reliable peace negotiations.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine had intelligence and Russia plans to send troops to its ally Belarus this summer in the disguise of training exercises, but warned it posed a direct threat to NATO countries.

“We must build the armed forces of Europe so that the future of Europe depends only on the Europeans,” Zelensky said at the Munich security conference in Germany.

He added: “Putin clearly believes that Belarus is just another Russian province right now.”

The Ukrainian president met with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Friday to discuss rising hopes for the Russian-Ukrainian peace deal, but noted that his country hopes to demand “safety assurance” before any negotiations with Russia.

“This is not a country that wants peace,” Zelensky said of Russia. “This is not prepared for a dialogue.”

Zelenskyy on Friday Tell NBC News Ukraine will be “very, very, very, very difficult” without the support of the United States, both in the future Russian invasion.

He also told the meeting earlier in the day that Ukraine would need to double the size of its army if it could not join NATO.

Instead, he suggested that Washington and Kiev would reach an economic agreement focusing on the latter’s large amount of key minerals to provide post-war security shields to embattled countries.
