President-elect Donald Trump said his inauguration ceremony would be moved indoors as Washington, D.C., will experience extremely cold weather on Monday.

“Accordingly, I have ordered that the inaugural address, along with prayers and other speeches, be delivered in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol,” he wrote.
Trump’s post included a screenshot from the National Weather Service predicting “dangerously cold winds” around noon Monday with temperatures between six and 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
The decision will make it the first presidential inauguration to be held indoors since 1985, when then-President Ronald Reagan was sworn in for a second term. Due to freezing temperatures, the ceremony was moved indoors.
Trump said in a post on Friday that Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., would be open for live viewing of his inauguration and would also host the scheduled presidential parade.
“Once sworn in, I will join the crowd at Capital One,” Trump wrote.
The president-elect added that the rest of his inauguration, including Sunday afternoon’s MAGA rally at the First Capitol Arena, will “remain unchanged.”
“Everyone will be safe, everyone will be happy, and together we will make America great again!” he wrote.
