Ten years later Lester Holt resigns as host of “NBC Night News” | Real Time Headlines

Lester Holt, host and executive editor of NBC Nightly News for a decade, announced that he will resign from long-term broadcasts in the early summer.

Holt will continue to be a fixture for the network for full-time positions in “Dateline”, serving as the leading host for nearly 15 years in “Dateline.”

NBC News didn’t immediately name Holt’s successor.

Holt joined NBC News in 2000 and also hosted “News at Night: Children’s Edition,” an Emmy-nominated digital news broadcast designed to inform and educate children.
