Singapore named world’s safest destination for travelers | Real Time Headlines

Singapore is the safest city in the world for tourists, according to new research from Forbes consultants.

The study analyzed factors such as crime, health care quality and natural disaster risk to give a safety score from 0 to 100 – with the safest cities scoring the lowest.

According to the study’s assessment, Singapore received a score of 0.

The Southeast Asian city had the lowest natural disaster risk and the second highest health and infrastructure risk among the 60 analyzed cities.

The study also analyzed digital security risk, which it defined as the ability to freely use the Internet without fear of online attacks or privacy violations. Singapore is considered the second-lowest digital security risk country on the list.

The study ranks Tokyo and Toronto as the safest cities for travelers after Singapore. Tokyo was considered the city with the lowest health security risks, a testament to the quality of the city’s healthcare services, and ranked fifth for infrastructure security risks.

Japan and Australia are the only countries to have two cities in the study’s top ten, including:

  1. Singapore
  2. Tokyo, Japan
  3. Canada Toronto
  4. Sydney, Australia
  5. Zurich Switzerland
  6. Copenhagen, Denmark
  7. Seoul, Korea
  8. Osaka, Japan
  9. Melbourne. Australia
  10. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

most dangerous city

Only one city received 100 points: Caracas, Venezuela.

The study said the city had “the highest health security risks, reflecting the lower level and quality of health care services and infrastructure”. Caracas’s crime rate has also earned it the lowest travel safety rating from the U.S. State Department, a “Level 4: Do Not Travel” advisory.

“Do not travel to Venezuela due to crime, civil unrest, kidnapping and arbitrary enforcement of local laws. Please reconsider travel due to wrongful detentions, terrorism and poor health infrastructure.” The U.S. Department of State website states.

Karachi, Pakistan, was considered the second most dangerous city in the study. Forbes Advisor ranks Karachi as the city with the highest personal security risk and the fourth-highest infrastructure security risk.

The U.S. Department of State stated in a travel warning issued in June 2023 that “ongoing acts of violence by terrorist and extremist elements have resulted in indiscriminate attacks on civilians and local military and police targets.” The warning stipulates that the country is given a “Level 3” warning, which reminds tourists to reconsider travel.

Yangon in Myanmar ranks third among the world’s least safe cities for travelers, followed by Lagos in Nigeria, Manila in the Philippines and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
