Shopping The website promoted by rapper Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) was removed, which sold Swastika T-shirts.
The rapper held an ad on Sunday during the Super Bowl directing viewers to visit Yeezy.com, which advertised a product, a $20 T-shirt with a black Swastika on it. The site is online until Tuesday morning.
A Shopify spokesman said Canadian e-commerce companies have kept their websites out of violations of their terms of service.
“This businessman did not engage in real business practices and violated our terms, so we removed it from Shopify,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
Shopify president Harley Finkelstein told CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” Tuesday that the owners of the site proved “all day” that they did not violate the company’s policies, “this did not happen.”
“We realized that this is not actually a real business practice, they aren’t actually doing real business, and we took it off,” Finkelstein said.
Finkelstein called the site the site, a location that previously sold a wider range of T-shirts, pants and jackets, which were “disappointing.”
“I am a proud Jewish entrepreneur,” Finkelstein told CNBC’s Sara Eisen. “I am a proud Jewish community member. In the past, you and I have been talking about it’s me.” An important part of identity. So, obviously I was shocked by it.”
