Secret Service in shooting near Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s home | Real Time Headlines

The agency said Yellen was not threatened and was not injured during the incident.

The shooting occurred nearly 13 months after Secret Service agents were assigned to protect the president. Joe Bideneldest granddaughter, Naomi Biden Nealopened fire on several people who broke into an unoccupied government vehicle outside her home in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday outside Yellen’s home in northwest Washington, according to the Secret Service.

The agency “observed multiple occupants of a sedan attempting to open vehicle doors on the street,” the agency said.

The Secret Service said, “As the sedan approached the agents, the agents struggled with the occupants of the vehicle. Agents fired their weapons.”

“The suspect fled the scene in a sedan and issued a lookout to local law enforcement,” the agency said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington and the Washington Metropolitan Police Department will investigate the shooting, according to the Secret Service.

The Metropolitan Police declined to comment on the incident.
