Samsung’s “Moohan Project” will kick off competition this year Apple Vision Pro | Real Time Headlines

Samsung’s extended reality “Project Moohan” headsets are on display at the 2025 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Samsung will launch its extended reality headset this year, a company spokesman told CNBC on Tuesday.

The device, known as the Moohan project, is Samsung’s answer apple$3,500 Vision Pro, Launched last year.

Samsung teased the headphones last year, but showed it for the first time at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year.

Samsung calls the product “Extended Reality” or XR device, aiming to merge the digital and physical worlds. However, there is little detail about the device at this time. Four cameras are visible on the front lens of the physical headset, with touch controls appearing to be on the side.

Samsung works with both Qualcomm and Google Develop a new operating system for this type of device, called the Android XR platform.

Samsung said that in December, Google Gemini will be installed in headphones, allowing wearers to experience the “conversation user interface.”

“For me, breakthrough technology is a combination of advanced vision and intelligence that can understand user intentions. I think it’s a flawed product without the smart part,” Patrick Chomet, executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile division, told CNBC in an interview Tuesday.

Chomet hints at the world envisioned by many consumer electronics companies, where smarter AI digital assistants can have a more intuitive understanding of user needs on devices.

Samsung was one of the early players in virtual reality headsets, a market that has never really deviated from the way many companies predicted. But with technology from presentation to chip field, big players touted the reality of hybrid or extended as a new field of computing.

Chomet did not give a timeline for launching glasses products. However, people may use multiple devices, he said.

“For about a considerable time, smartphones will be the most commonly used device,” Chomet said. “I’ve seen a world where people have all kinds of things, including at home, in cars. The device will help you do what you need to do.”
