Microsoft to invest $1.3 billion in cloud and artificial intelligence technology in Mexico | Real Time Headlines

tech giants Microsoft The company announced on Tuesday that it will invest $1.3 billion over the next three years to build cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Mexico.

“We are doubling down on our efforts to bring more capacity to Mexico,” Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella said at an event in Mexico City.

The investment will be used to improve connectivity and promote the adoption of AI technology among small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), the company said in a statement.

The plan aims to benefit 5 million Mexicans and 30,000 small and medium-sized enterprises within three years, the statement said.

Mexican companies such as bread maker Bimbo and cement producer Cemex are already using Microsoft’s artificial intelligence tools.

Microsoft and communications company Viasat are also committed to providing Internet service to more than 150,000 Mexicans by the end of 2025 who previously did not have cellular network connections, Microsoft said.

“This is good news for our country,” incoming Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard said in a post on X after meeting Nadella, adding that the planned The investment will help Mexico quickly improve its artificial intelligence capabilities.
