disney Back at the top of the box office.
On Tuesday, “Inside Out” surpassed $1.46 billion in global box office revenue, becoming the highest-grossing animated feature of all time. Usurped another Disney work “Frozen 2”. Its box office will continue to grow. The film has not yet been released in Japan. The total global box office of “Inside Out” in 2015 was US$850.5 million, with Japan contributing nearly US$33 million.
“Inside Out 2” broke box office records after the company experienced a series of theatrical successes and failures, particularly with its animated releases.
In particular, Pixar has suffered at the box office in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Part of the reason for much of its difficulty is that Disney has chosen to launch some of its animated features directly on its streaming service, Disney+, while theaters are closed or even once theaters reopen.
As a result, prior to Inside Out 2, no Disney animated feature from Pixar or its Walt Disney Animation Studios had grossed more than $480 million at the global box office since 2019.
It’s worth noting that Disney doesn’t consider 2019’s The Lion King to be an animated feature film, even though nearly the entire movie is computer animated. According to the company, this is considered a live-action remake. Otherwise, it would have become the highest-grossing animated feature film, as it grossed over $1.6 billion during its theatrical run. Box office analysts stand by Disney’s classification of the movie.
