Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives Tuesday night President Donald TrumpTax cuts and the border agenda provide a significant boost to his 2025 agenda.
The vote on pass was 217-215, and a Republican voted in the opposition, with no Democrats supporting the controversial measure. A Democrat didn’t vote.
It was after a series of unusual drills by speaker Mike Johnson, who canceled the vote on the bill – apparently because it lacked the number of votes for the pass – and suggested that House members have no further votes that night . Then, he immediately turned the course around just to improve his budget.
The incident happened after Johnson and House Republican Steve Scalise spent hours supporting the move, which was extended later this year by Trump later this year Preliminary steps to tax cuts in 2017.
Both leaders say Trump himself has also been in touch with reluctant members to raise the $45 trillion tax plan, which will also fund immigrants living in the U.S., tighten border security and deregulation of energy and military expenditure.
