DOT sues Southwest Airlines, fines Frontier Airlines for ‘long flight delays’ | Real Time Headlines

The Department of Transportation filed the lawsuit on Wednesday Southwest Airlinesaccusing the airline of chronic flight delays and fines Frontier Airlines For late arriving flights.

The lawsuit was filed after the Department of Transportation fined JetBlue Airways for similar accusations.

The lawsuits and fines come at the end of the Biden administration, which has taken a tougher stance on consumer protections than previous administrations.

The U.S. Department of Transportation said Southwest Airlines flights from Chicago Midway International Airport to Oakland, Calif., and from Baltimore to Cleveland were delayed nearly 200 times between April and August 2022.

The Ministry of Transport said: “Every flight has been delayed for five consecutive months.” It is said that more than 90% of flight disruptions are caused by airlines.

Southwest Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
