Democratic National Convention grants special access to more than 200 content creators | Real Time Headlines

The decision to formally appoint a dedicated team of creators is a first for the Democratic nominating convention.

Houston is a lawyer and comedian with more than 500,000 followers across various platforms. She produces videos that detail the latest news in law and politics, providing viewers with complex topics in a relevant and easy-to-understand way.

Creators are not compensated for attending conventions or producing content on site. Like traditional journalists, content creators will be responsible for their own transportation and housing expenses.

To offset these costs, some creators are seeking sponsorship from advertisers. Houston said she will produce sponsored content for the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, a political action committee funded by members of Congress who are members of the caucus.

DNCC is also working with creators who are unable to attend the conference in person, allowing them remote access to participate.

In addition to a great location on the creator platform, certified creators have an exclusive lounge in the United Center where they can work on content, record podcast interviews, and connect with other creators.

The Democratic National Committee isn’t the only political convention to grant access to content creators this year. In mid-July, the Republican National Convention also hosted more than 70 influential people in Milwaukee.

VaynerX Chairman Gary Vaynerchuk recently said in an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box”: “Our society still underestimates the extent to which social media focuses on end consumers.”

He pointed to the role social media played in two of the most movement-driven presidential elections of the past 40 years.

“Obama’s victory and Trump’s victory were eight years apart, and they both happened because of social media,” Vaynerchuk said. “The Obama campaign’s actions on Facebook in 2008 were historic and a preview of Trump’s actions on Twitter in 2016.”

Party conventions aren’t the only place presidential campaigns are trying to engage with content creators this election cycle.

Former President Donald Trump has collaborated with several content creators, including Logan Paul, Nerke Boy and Ardin Roth.
