AWS launches Amazon game flow stream for cloud gaming | Real Time Headlines

Amazon’s Cloud Unit explain On Thursday, it is launching a service to allow video game publishers to stream games online.

Jackbox Games is a developer of casual games like Quiplash and Fibbage, and plans to rely on Gamelift streams to publish a service for game streams that will provide access to many of your titles. Jackbox games are available for upfront fees.

Jackbox’s technology leader Evan Jacover said his company is considering building its own technology for streaming, but decided to use it with AWS after learning about its plans.

“This is not the core competence of Jack Box games,” Jacob said, adding that the startup has a proof of concept or POC. “We lifted a POC, but it didn’t work to make it really work.”

Jackbox aims to release an early version of its service in the first half of this year, with more gaming and subscription options available. Since the company’s games are not graphically heavy, they don’t have major latency issues and do a good job of streaming.

Amazon Gamelift Streams supports 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second.

“It’s a great place when we talk to customers,” Lee said.

Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Sony’s The PlayStation 5 Pro can reach 4K resolution and 120 frames per second, allowing for more advanced video. But modern gaming consoles cost hundreds of dollars.
