Asia-Pacific markets set to open lower on penultimate trading day of 2024 | Real Time Headlines

Asia-Pacific markets are expected to open lower on the penultimate trading day of the year after Wall Street fell on Friday.

Australian S&P/ASX 200 Index It fell 0.3% in the first hour of trading.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 Index futures opened weaker, with the Chicago futures contract at 40,210 points, compared with the index’s previous closing price of 40,281.16 points.

This week, traders await China’s manufacturing PMI due on Tuesday, while markets will be closed for the New Year’s Day holiday on Wednesday.

U.S. stocks fell on Friday, led by technology stocks, but major averages were still up for the week.
