apple announced on monday Newer iMac Using the company’s latest M4 chip. It starts at $1,299 and is available for purchase ahead of its November 8 launch.
Apple’s Mac line is still a huge business, although it’s not as important to the company as the iPhone. Apple announced second-quarter Mac sales of $7 billion, an increase of about 2% from the same period last year.
Unlike the iPhone, only phones released in the past two years will support Apple Intelligence, and since 2020 all Apple computers equipped with M1 chips and newer can run the company’s artificial intelligence.

Apple first launched the M4 in the Apple iPad Pro in May. At the time, Apple said the chip had additional artificial intelligence capabilities, a better graphics processor, and used TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process. Apple says the M4 consumes half the power of the M2, first released in 2022.
In September, Apple announced new iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods. The Mac released this week is likely to be Apple’s last major new hardware launch this year.
