How Disney rotates its parks during Halloween and winter holidays | Real Time Headlines

It’s time to switch out the pumpkins for poinsettias at Disneyland.

During the busiest season, disney Domestic theme parks have begun to switch from Halloween decorations to Christmas colors. The transformation begins to take shape almost overnight, with warm autumn banners replaced by festive green garlands. Complete metamorphosis takes about six weeks.

About two weeks before Halloween, Disney staff begin installing “unobtrusive” elements for the holiday, such as lighting fixtures. The job is scheduled to last 12 months and involves a number of different departments, from the horticulture team and technical services to crane operators, truck drivers, aerial lift drivers and even culinary experts.

Most of the installation work was completed at night when the park was closed.

Starting on November 8 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, and on November 15 at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, Disney’s slew of winter holiday offerings will be in full swing — from Sparkling of decorative trees and dazzling character costumes to limited-time offer food and drink selections and exclusive merchandise.

For Disney, these holidays are big business, bringing in significant revenue and traffic.

“Traditionally, this would have been summer, but it’s actually evolved into these two months where there’s an extra layer of product and there’s something unique beyond that,” Doyle said. “It’s kind of in line with Disney’s vault strategy… It’s something that comes out and then people get really excited about it for a limited time.”

Disney’s Experiences segment, which consists of parks, cruises, hotels and consumer products, generated $9.13 billion in revenue between October and December 2023. Between $8.3 billion.

This year, Mickey’s “Not So Scary” Halloween Party kicked off in Florida on August 9th, and the massive trick-or-treating Oogie Boogie Bash kicked off in California on August 25th, bringing the Halloween atmosphere to a new level. The crowds extend into the company’s summer quarter. Both events run until October 31st.

With Halloween over, Disney turns its attention to the winter holidays. These include special holiday changes to rides and attractions as well as Christmas parades and fireworks.

At Disneyland, holiday overlays for Sleeping Beauty Castle, It’s a Small World and The Haunted Mansion will debut on November 15th. Stationed on the trail.

At Walt Disney World Resort, Mickey’s Merry Christmas Party kicks off on November 8th and Jollywood Nights kicks off on November 9th. Meet and greet. Space Mountain will get the holiday overlay, as will the Jungle Cruise (which will temporarily become the Jingle Cruise) and other attractions.
