This dynamic may help explain why the company behind Truth Social has a market capitalization of nearly $6 billion but a relatively small user base and little revenue.
Trump owns nearly 57% of the company’s stock – worth about $3.4 billion based on Monday’s closing price. He has reportedly vowed not to sell his holdings, which now account for more than half of his book net worth Forbes.
Meanwhile, Trump Media announced Monday morning the launch of a separate website within its platform Streaming servicestruth+.
Trump Media said in a press release that while a stripped-down version of Truth+ already exists on Truth Social, the new site offers the company’s “full range” of streaming programming.
The site says it offers more than 1,000 “new movies and series,” including exclusive content. The company’s stated goal is to expand Truth+ to iOS devices and other TV-connected platforms while making the service “impossible to be canceled by the big tech companies.”
But most of the film and TV productions seem to have been released a few years ago. Almost all the movies available are also on Tubi, another free streaming platform.
Some content also appears to be produced using artificial intelligence tools.
For example, a 40-minute “documentary” about Al Capone is nothing more than a slideshow of crisp, AI-generated photos, accompanied by an AI voiceover and a repetitive music track. The film is said to be directed by John Smith and written by Michael Smith.
