“This type of violence will not be tolerated in America,” Biden said in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
“This is sick,” Biden said. “It’s sick.”
“This is one of the reasons we have to unite this country,” the president said. “We can’t allow this to happen. We can’t be like this. We can’t condone this.”
Biden said he hoped to speak with Trump soon, adding, “Obviously he’s doing a great job.”
Political violence “is unheard of and inappropriate, and everyone, everyone must condemn it,” he said.

Asked whether he believed the shooting was an assassination attempt on Trump, Biden said he had an “opinion” but wanted to gather more facts before making further comments.
Shortly after the incident, Trump’s campaign said he was “in good condition and being checked out at a local medical facility.” Trump is Saw blood on his face and ears when he was evacuated by the Secret Service.
The U.S. Secret Service said the “former president is safe” and that the apparent shooting is under active investigation.
In a written statement earlier Saturday night, Biden, who is running against Trump for re-election, said he was pleased to hear Trump was “safe and doing well.”
“As we await further information, my prayers are with him and his family and everyone who attended the rally,” Biden said in a statement.
“America will not tolerate this kind of violence. We must unite as a nation to condemn this kind of behavior,” the president said.
The statement and Biden’s remarks follow strong support for Trump from both his political allies and opponents, who have harshly condemned all forms of political violence.

Trump’s two presidential predecessors, Barack Obama and George W. Bush, were relieved that Trump did not appear to be seriously injured.
Obama said in X’s statement: “There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy. While we don’t yet know exactly what happened, we should all breathe a sigh of relief that former President Trump was not seriously harmed, and Use this moment to recommit yourself to civility and respect in our politics.
Bush said he and former first lady Laura Bush were “grateful that President Trump is safe and sound after this cowardly attack on his life.”
Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who became a gun control activist after being shot in the head during a 2011 assassination attempt, wrote: “Political violence is horrific. I know.
“My thoughts are with former President Trump and all those affected by today’s inexcusable violence,” Giffords wrote. “Political violence is un-American and never acceptable — ever.”
Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement that she and second-in-command Doug Emhoff were “reassured that (Trump) was not seriously injured.”
“There is no place for violence like this in our country. We must all condemn this abhorrent behavior and do our part to ensure it does not lead to more violence,” Harris said.
