The head of the FBI’s New York field office was forced to withdraw from the bureau on Monday after he urged employees to “dig” the Trump administration removed senior FBI leaders and demanded the names of all agents working in the Jan. 6 case, five cases told NBC News.
In an email to staff Monday, Dennehy said he was forced to retire from the bureau.
“Later Friday, I was told I needed to put my retirement paper today, and I just did it,” Dennehy wrote. “No reason to give me this decision.”
