The 97th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, March 2 at 7 p.m. ET at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony, hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, aired on ABC and is available through its website and app.
This year’s awards have put some new records on this line: “Brutalist” star Adrien Brody may be the first player to win 2-2 for the first time in the Best Actor category, and Timothée Chalamet may make Brody the youngest winner in the category if he competes as “completely unknown.”
The two musicals are the best photos – “Evil” and “Emilia Pérez” – and “Anora”, “The Savage”, “A totally unknown”, “The Principal”, “Dune: Part II: Part II”, “I’m Still Here”, “I’m Still Here,” “Nickel Boy” and “Material”.
Entering Sunday’s ceremony, the audience longs to see if “Emilia Pérez” can overcome recent controversy to secure any victory. The film’s star and Oscar nominee, Karla Sofía Gascón, faces criticism of past social media posts, rather than many considered racists and Islamic sects.
“Emilia Pérez” seemed to have had its best win early in the awards season, but “Brutalists” and “Anora” recently appeared among the leaders.
Then there is “evil”, which last year was a box office smash. The feature protagonists Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will perform at night, although the music film is not eligible for the best song nomination for the year. Erivo will qualify for the next Oscar season, with “Wicked: Good” coming with new and original songs.
