Yuan Thursday apologized for the wrong mistake, causing some Instagram users to report a lot of violence and graphic content suggested on their personal “reel” page.

“We are addressing a bug that has caused some users to see content in their Instagram reel feeds that should not be suggested. We apologize for the error,” a Messenger spokesperson said in a statement shared with CNBC.

The apology comes after many Instagram users enter various social media platforms to express concerns about the massive amount of violent and “unsafe job” content in the feed.

Some users claim they see content like this, even with Instagram’s “sensitive content control” enabled.

according to Meta-policyThe company is committed to protecting users from images and removing content that is particularly violent or graphic.

Prohibited content includes videos that describe dismembered, visible internal organs or burnt bodies, as well as content that contains “sadistic rhetoric depicting images of suffering of humans and animals.”

However, Meta said that some graphic content does allow if it can help users condemn and raise awareness of important issues, such as human rights violations, armed conflict or terrorism. Such content may be subject to limitations, such as warning labels.

On Thursday, CNBC was able to view several posts with bloody and violent content on the Instagram reel. These posts are tagged as “sensitive content.”
