A passenger plane overshot the runway and crashed at South Korea’s Muan International Airport on Sunday, killing at least 28 people, Yonhap News Agency reported.
According to reports, when the accident occurred, the Jeju Air flight from Thailand, carrying 175 passengers and 6 crew members, landed at the airport in the south of the country.
The rescue mission continued and the two people were found alive, Yonhap News Agency reported.
An airport official told Reuters authorities were working to rescue those at the tail end of the plane.
Photos shared by local media showed smoke and flames engulfing parts of the plane.
Acting President Choi Sung-mok, who was appointed interim leader on Friday, ordered an all-out rescue effort after the former acting president was impeached amid an ongoing political crisis, his office said.
A spokesman for Jeju Air said the airline was checking the reports.
