President-elect Donald Trump Said Monday he would “definitely consider” pardoning New York mayor Eric Adams.

“I think he’s been treated pretty unfairly,” the incoming Republican president said of the Democratic mayor. Not guilty to the federation corruption charges.

Speaking to reporters at his Florida resort Mar-a-Lago, Trump warned that he had not yet seen “the gravity of it all,” suggesting he had not carefully studied the evidence against Adams.

But he went on to downplay the accusations against the mayor, suggesting that Adams’ alleged actions were as anodyne as receiving a promotion on an international flight.

Adams, 64, was charged in September with accepting gifts, including luxury trips, from wealthy foreign businessmen over nearly a decade. He is also charged with conspiracy related to possible illegal campaign contributions to the 2021 mayoral race.

Trump also seemed to suggest the prosecution might be political.

Adams “basically opposed what was going on immigrants coming in” and “made some pretty strong statements,” Trump said.

“I said, ‘You know what? He’s going to be indicted soon,'” Trump recalled, adding that he made the remarks “relaxedly.”

“A few months later, he was indicted,” Trump said. “So yes, of course I would consider” a pardon.

Adams also claimed he has become a target Because he criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

Just last Sunday, adams says He “did not communicate with the president about the pardon.”

Trump made the remarks during a press conference on Monday morning. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son announces commitment Invest $100 billion in the United States for the next four years.
