New York prosecutors file charges against Ivy League graduate on Monday Luigi Mangione with murder United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompsoncourt records show.
The charge came hours after Mangione was arraigned in a Pennsylvania court early Monday on firearms and other charges related to his arrest. McDonald’sLocated in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Mangione, 26, was charged Monday night in New York State Court in Manhattan with murder, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, possession of a silencer and possession of a forged musical instrument, according to court records.
The Penn State graduate is accused of fatally shooting Thompson last Wednesday morning outside the Hilton Hotel in downtown Manhattan.
Thompson, a father of two, was attending an investor meeting at UnitedHealth Group, which owns his company.
UnitedHealthcare is the largest private health insurance company in the United States, with annual revenue of more than $200 billion.
Mangione, who comes from a wealthy Baltimore-area family, is being held in a Pennsylvania prison without bail.
