South Korea’s parliament formally filed a motion to impeach Yun Seok-yeol on Thursday, setting the stage for a historic vote that could oust the embattled president as he attempts to force through a botched impeachment measure.

The impeachment motion against Yoon was reported at a plenary session held shortly after midnight on Thursday.
An impeachment vote must be held within 24 to 72 hours after the motion is filed.
