Cenat is a 22-year-old streamer who has become popular in the past two years for his live broadcasts focusing on comedy, games and pranks. On Saturday, he completed a so-called “sub-marathon,” live streaming 24 hours a day for 30 consecutive days. A sub-marathon is a streaming event where each new subscription or donation extends the duration of the stream, often leading to a marathon.
In a stream called Mafiathon 2, Cenat surpassed Twitch’s previous subscriber record, reaching nearly 727,700 subscribers as of the end of November, a Twitch spokesperson said. During this period, Cenat also had 50 million unique viewers.
Twitch subscribers typically pay $4.99 per month for perks like ad-free viewing, exclusive emotes, and subscriber-only chats with their favorite streamers. Twitch typically takes 50% of subscriber revenue, but has reduced its top users’ share to 30% to 40% creator. Cenat’s team didn’t disclose how much money he made from sub-marathons, but based on his Tier 1 subscriptions, he likely made around $3.6 million, of which Twitch took a cut.
“I love you guys so much,” Senat said during the final moments of a 30-day live broadcast from his Los Angeles mansion. “Without you, I am nothing.”
Cenat’s stream doubled the Twitch subscriber record set by virtual streamer Ironmouse during a marathon in September, with more than 326,250 subscribers. Cenat and Ironmouse’s sub-marathons highlight a trend in streaming that uses multi-day live events to engage audiences and significantly increase subscriber numbers and revenue.
During the live broadcast, Senat was joined by many celebrity guests, including rapper Snoop Dogg, scientist Bill Nye and comedian Kevin Hart. With these guests, Senat managed to continue live streaming all night without interruption while sleeping, eating and going to the toilet. When he’s not on screen, he lets other members of his team take over for him to entertain thousands of viewers.
Cenat is now the biggest streamer on the internet with a huge following on most social platforms. He has 15.4 million followers on Twitch, 6.7 million followers on YouTube, 12 million followers on Instagram, and 2.6 million followers on X.
Senat said he will donate 20% of subscription revenue during the live broadcast to a school he helped establish in Nigeria Visit a settlement in Makoko.
“I visited Nigeria not long ago and loved it,” Senat posted on his Instagram Story. “We will fund the entire project out of our own pocket, complete with staff, classrooms, uniforms, etc.”
