highly anticipated boxing match The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson has already earned its place in the record books.
Most Valuable Promotions, the fight’s promoter and co-owned by Paul, told CNBC it has sold more than 70,000 tickets for Friday night’s game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Dallas Cowboys’ stadium seats 80,000 spectators.
Organizers said ticket sales alone brought in $17.8 million.
This makes it the largest boxing ring in history outside of Nevada. The previous record was the 2021 fight between Canelo Álvarez and Billy Joe Saunders at AT&T Stadium, which generated $9 million in ticket sales.
MVP said the bar is higher than any non-Las Vegas UFC fight except for Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez in New York City in 2016 .
The showdown between YouTube star Paul, 27, and boxing legend Tyson, 58, will air on Netflix for free to subscribers on Friday at 8 p.m. ET.
The event will also feature one of the most anticipated women’s boxing rematches in history: undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor versus unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano.
Netflix has more than 283 million paid members in more than 190 countries. The fight will also be a test for the streamer as it moves deeper into sports, with boxing eschewing the pay-per-view model.
“The numbers don’t lie,” Paul said Wednesday at a press conference for the game. “People want to see this and it’s a great accomplishment. … It shows that we have the largest live gate in the history of American boxing outside of Vegas.”
StubHub Ticket prices for last Friday’s game ranged from about $58 to $1,500. MVP also sells higher-end packages, including VIP experience worth $2 million Courtside seating included. The promotion company said its 375 VIP seats are officially sold out.
By comparison, the biggest fight in Las Vegas history took place in 2015 between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao . That game generated more than $72 million in ticket sales, according to the company. las vegas review magazinelake
